In August, Massachusetts had the least amount of money from sports betting this year.

In August, Massachusetts's sports betting income hit a new low for the year. However, the state was able to report growth from one year to the next in both revenue and handle.
Massachusetts sports betting in December: In August, taxable online and store sales brought in a total of $33.3 million (£25.2 million or €29.9 million).  But it's 19.2% less than in July, which was the lowest month so far this year and 51.4% more than in Massachusetts last year.

Online betting brought in $32.9 million during the month, while retail betting brought in only $381,134.

The $447.3 million spent in stores and online was 42.1% more than the same time last year.  It's also 8.6% more than the $411.8 million that was bet on sports in July of this year.

In August, people bet a total of $439.7 million online and $7.6 million at brick-and-mortar casinos in Massachusetts.

In August, 7.71% of stocks in the state's market were still on hold.  Online hold was a little higher than this, at 7.74%, while retail hold was lower, at 6.12%.

There is still no one better in Massachusetts than DraftKings.
When it comes to individual operators, DraftKings is still the market winner in Massachusetts.  It made $16.2 million in August from $229.4 million in bets, with a hold percentage of 7.33 percent.

But even though FanDuel made less money than the other two ($10.7 million), it had a bigger hold of 9.26%.  In August, the company took $118.2 million in bets.

Another great winner was BetMGM, which made $2.3 million from a $31.1 million handle, or 7.56% hold.  Bally Bet, which opened in Massachusetts in July and was new to the market, had the highest market share at 9.39% after making $222,372 from $2.4 million in handle.

In terms of sales, Plainridge Park Casino won with $196,980 from $2.7 million in bets.  The hold for the month was 7.47% because of this.

Casino income reaches a five-month high
Looking at the land-based casino market in Massachusetts, table games and slots brought in a total of $103.3 million in gross gaming revenue (GGR).  This is 5.5% more than the same time last year, 3.8% more than July, and the most for a month since March.

In August, slots brought in $69.0 million, and table games brought in $34.3 million.

With $64.9 million in sales for the month, Encore Boston Harbour is still by far the biggest casino company.  $35.9 million came from slots, and $29.0 million came from table games.

In August, sports betting and gambling games brought in a total of $136.6m.  The state got a total of $36 million in taxes, with $6.6 million from sports betting and $29.3 million from casinos.
